Aunt Nancy’s Child Care, a Mokena-based facility, is hoping to rent space in the high school’s East Campus building in Frankfort, Supt. Lawrence Wyllie said.
The facility would give school employees with children the option of bringing their kids to work with them.
The facility is likely to prove beneficial for everyone concerned, Wyllie said, noting that research indicates on-site day care improves employee performance. Having the day care center would also provide a learning experience for students studying child development. He said they would be able to observe professionals at work.
Although the plan under development was formed with children of employees in mind, children of students would also be eligible.
“I don’t have any problem with that,” Wyllie said. The important thing is: “That a student (with a child) would be in class.”
If approved, the facility would be up and running by September.
