A Jan. 30 accord backed by the Midwest-Asia Aviation Coalition has begun to bring changes to non-stop flights between Chicago and Tokyo. American Airlines began daily service between the two cities May 1. United now operates two non-stops daily. However, Northwest will discontinue its Chicago-Tokyo route beginning June 1, but will continue service through its Detroit and Minneapolis/St. Paul hubs. For detailed information on Chicago-Tokyo flights, turn to “Fare check” on Page 23 of this section.
