To acknowledge the major role the hotel industry is increasingly playing in Tinley Park, officials there have formed a committee dealing with the hospitality business.

At its meeting Wednesday, the village’s Industrial and Commercial Commission voted to establish a panel consisting of representatives from each licensed hotel in town, plus three representatives from the hospitality industry at large, including restaurants, golf courses and similar businesses.

Six hotels recently have been built in Tinley Park. Another one is planned adjacent to the village’s future convention center.

Duties of the new committee include promoting the hospitality industry, aiding with preparations for annual events that would use village hotels and working with the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau.
