A Mokena plan that focuses on upgrading the appearance of the commercial section on Front Street and along Wolf Road in downtown was recently approved by the Village Board.
The plan, which also focuses on recruiting and retaining more businesses and drawing more people to the area, should be accepted as a planning tool, Trustee Mike Everett said.
He said Business Districts Inc., the consultant that drew up the plan, recommended taking steps to secure funding, maintain a good relationship with Metra, which has a commuter station in the center of town, and concentrate on the creation of a park on the Yunker Farm property.
