Des Plaines District 62 has made an informal contract offer to its teacher assistants, including five years of 4 percent annual pay raises.
The Des Plaines Teacher Assistant Association expects to present the offer to its negotiating team as early as Friday, officials said. Both sides say they hope to have a tentative agreement by Monday.
The district’s offer would cost about $165,000 over five years.
The teacher assistants are in the final year of a three-year pact. That deal also included yearly raises of 4 percent in addition to a one-time salary adjustment in the first year.
The average salary for the assistants, about 50 in all, is between $12,000 and $13,000.
