Two conclusions can be drawn from Monday night’s 0-0 tie between No. 1 St. Charles and No. 4 Naperville North in girls soccer.

St. Charles, the two-time defending state champion and recently recognized as the No. 1 high school girls team in the nation, is as dangerous as ever.

And Naperville North goalkeeper Missy Wickart, putting it simply, had one great game.

The Iowa-bound senior made 13 saves, including spectacular ones denying Patrice Feulner and Sarah Lynch, to help the Huskies (10-1-1) gain the tie. Host St. Charles outshot North 15-8, as Saints goalkeeper Lynley Hilligoss came up with four saves–all in the second half.

St. Charles’ unbeaten streak reached 67 games, but this is the first tie this season for the Saints (13-0-1). Glenbard West was the last team to tie the Saints, that coming in a 0-0 game May 24, 1997.

“They definitely kept me on my toes,” said Wickart, who thought this was her best game of the season. “It’s probably the most I’ve been tested.”
