Leapin’ lizards. Yes, the Chicago Herpetological Society is back with its annual festival. The group is dedicated to education, conservation and advancement of the study of reptiles and amphibians. That’s why they’re putting on the wonderfully creepy Reptilefest, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition to checking out hundreds of reptiles and amphibians (including an alligator) from around the globe, visitors can be photographed with a reptile, climb into a tortoise pen, attend pet-and-learn sessions, purchase reptile care books and T-shirts, and listen to the Iguanid Squad discuss Green Iguana care. The fun takes place in Alumni Hall at Northeastern Illinois University, 3600 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Call 773-281-1800, or surf to www.chicagoherp.org
