Students and lawyers will celebrate Law Day on Friday by conducting mock criminal trials at the Kane County Judicial Center.

High school students from Geneva, Batavia, York, St. Edward, Larkin, Maine West, Jacobs and Burlington Central High Schools will serve as jurors and litigators in the exercise under the guidance of Kane County Bar Association members. Judges and attorneys will preside.

The annual exercise, celebrated in conjunction with the May 1 observance of Law Day, allows students to experience firsthand the preparation and presentation skills required to prosecute and defend a criminal case.

Trials will begin at 10 a.m. and be open to the public.
