A developer has been turned down in his bid to have New Lenox defer water and sewer tap-on fees for his proposed 24-home development.
Village trustees voted against the request of John Lyons, whose proposed Wyndridge Downs subdivision project will include extending and enlarging an area sewer line. Lyons said delaying the tap-on fee payments until houses are constructed would help him pay for the sewer work.
Trustee Dave Batson said village rules require advance payment.
“The rules have to be across the board for everybody,” he said. “I don’t know that you can’t afford this.”
The area sewer line is adequate now, said village engineer Ron Franciskovich, but new development necessitates expansion.
