A proposed annexation would bring a controversial property under village watch, according to a Romeoville official.

The planned annexation of slightly more than 19 acres adjacent to the Crazy Rock Gentlemen’s Club will give the town a chance to keep an eye on land use, said Greg Anderson, community development director.

The annexation arrangement includes a special-use permit as well as rezoning the front section of the land for business use and the rear section for a storage operation, Anderson said. The special-use permit requires that any land use changes need Village Board approval, he said.

“We’ve tried to structure (the agreement) from the village standpoint to have as much control over the property as we can,” Village Attorney Ray Meader said.

The plan is expected to come up for a vote at the Village Board meeting Wednesday.
