The proceeds from oil pipeline easements approved this week by the Mokena Village Board will help finance landscape buffering at a proposed waste water-treatment site.
Lakehead Pipeline Co. of Superior, Wis., will pay $179,560 for the easements.
The funds will be used to pay for trees to screen the land earmarked for waste water-treatment plant expansion, Village Administrator John Downs said.
The easements are near the 191st Street waste water-treatment plant. The land bought by the village last year is earmarked for a Creekview neighborhood park and an expansion site for the waste water-treatment plant.
Lakehead Pipeline said construction crews are expected to be working in Mokena in the summer.
