Will County sheriff’s police said Tuesday the shooting death of a Mt. Greenwood man at Sybaris Club Suites in Frankfort Township was likely robbery- or drug-related.
John M. Fogleman, 25, of the 11000 block of St. Louis Avenue, arrived alone at the hotel late Sunday night in a green 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe, police said.
Fogleman’s body was found Monday morning by a maid. He was in bed, unclothed, and had been shot once in the forehead. There were no signs of a struggle, police said.
County Sheriff Brendan Ward said Fogleman’s wallet was missing. He said the vehicle Fogleman arrived in was missing.
Police said they found a small amount of marijuana in the hotel room, as well as marijuana, scales and more than $2,000 in Fogleman’s home. Fogleman was convicted in 1989 and in 1990 of possession of marijuana, Ward said.
Police were searching for the sport-utility vehicle, which had a temporary registration sticker in the rear window. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 815-727-8575 or 815-727-8574.
