New Lenox Park District commissioners may be happy to see an extension of the Old Plank Road Trail into New Lenox, but they are less than thrilled with the amenities accompanying it.
Park Commissioner Cheryl Mison said recently the Will County Forest Preserve District plan that will extend the recreational trail from Mokena to the Park District’s Lions Den property on Cedar Road does not provide adequate parking.
She and Commissioner Walter Dettman said they want extra parking on forest preserve property along the edge of the trail.
The Old Plank Road Trail starts in Park Forest and extends into Mokena. By September, the next leg of the trail, a site for walking jogging, bicycling and skating, is expected to extend to New Lenox.
