Backers of a $2.95 million referendum proposal to build and equip a new Town and Country Library have expressed confidence that central Kane County voters will give the proposal a thumbs up in Tuesday’s elections, but they are taking no chances.
Friends of the Library, a group of volunteers, is providing free rides to and from the polls for district residents. Anyone interested in riding may call 630-365-2244 as soon as possible to arrange a time, they said.
In addition, volunteers are providing an Election Day play area and story-telling sessions for children Tuesday at the library’s rented facility at the American Legion Hall, 112 N. Main St., Elburn.
“The community seems to recognize that the time is right for a new library,” said library volunteer David Compton.
