A new look in Chicago townhouses is under construction at 1801 W. Winnemac Ave. Called Ravenswood Park, the 40-unit development offers two- and three-bedroom residences priced from $224,500 to $269,500.

“This is the first townhome community built to meet the guidelines of the city’s proposed Townhouse District Ordinance,” said Ronald Shipka Jr., vice president of Enterprise Development Co., the builder.

Shipka said the new city guidelines call for front yards, rear-access garages, off-street guest parking and open space for all residents.

According to Shipka, Enterprise Development and its joint-venture partner, Selwyn Malisoff of Malisoff Realty, worked with the city’s Department of Planning and Development, Ald. Eugene Schulter (47th) and the Andersonville South Community Group “to design a unique new form of housing that the neighborhood residents wanted.”

Ravenswood Park will consist of four four-story brick buildings with stone accents, gabled roofs and cedar shake siding. They will be clustered around a landscaped courtyard, open space and guest parking spaces. Each unit will have a landscaped front yard averaging 200 square feet.

The first units will be completed in August, according to Shipka. A sales trailer is now open at the site.

An obsolete loft building was razed to make way for the new project. The townhouses will have 1,825 to 2,150 square feet, two or 2 1/2 baths and a one- or two-car garage in the rear, which will be accessible by a private drive.
