A five-year budget plan for the Mokena Educational Foundation was outlined recently for the school board that anticipates thousands of dollars for school projects.
The foundation is a volunteer fundraising group formed in 1996 to help pay for educational enhancements for students in Mokena Elementary School District 159.

Donations thus far have paid for computer equipment, as well as funding for teachers to attend a reading conference.
According to foundation treasurer John Weller, the group expects to donate $20,500 for technology at Mokena Elementary and Mokena Junior High Schools, along with $5,000 for scholarships, $14,000 in teacher grants and $6,000 for student grants.
The third annual dinner-dance, the group’s largest fundraiser, will be held at DiNolfo’s in October.
