Des Plaines District 62 has begun negotiations with its staff of teacher assistants, the last in a series of contract negotiations this year.

Neither side has set a timetable for completing the talks, though district officials are hoping to have them wrapped up by early to mid-April, according to Deputy Supt. Ray Gunn.

Representatives for the district’s 56 teacher assistants will have a chance to present their case before the board’s personnel committee March 19, including a discussion of the group’s changing role in the classroom and how their pay ranks against other area districts.
