Youngsters can learn all about Alaska’s famed Iditarod race and get a chance to muzzle up to a real sled dog Monday night in the Mt. Prospect Public Library.
Dick Ruffolo, of Mount Prospect, a recreational musher who will participate as an “Idita-rider” for the first 8 miles of the race on March 5, will explain the origins of dog sledding and show off the gear used in the sport during “Dog Sledding: the How & the Why,” for youths 11 to 18 years old.
To register for the free program, call the library’s information desk at 847-253-5675.
