The Village Board has approved a land sale that gives the Creekview subdivision a site for a neighborhood park.
Trustees voted earlier this week to sell slightly more than 6.5 acres of the northern end of a village-owned site and lease an additional 3 acres to the Mokena Park District.
The sale will cost the Park District $168,032, and the lease will cost $1 a year.
The new park will occupy the far end of 23 acres north of the 191st Street waste-water treatment plant and east of the Creekview subdivision.
The village bought the 23 acres in late 1996 with a view to expanding the plant’s capacity to serve a growing population.
