BBC RADIO PRESENTS THE MEMOIRS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES: VOLUMES 1-3

By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, BDD Audio, 480 minutes, $29.95. Read by Clive Merrison and Michael Williams.

The varied and plentiful sound effects here range from the neighing of a kidnapped racehorse to a woman’s strangling by a lover during a nighttime assignation. The effects, combined with strains of melancholy violin between stories, create an engaging backdrop for these 12 tales of mysteries solved by Victorian England’s most famous detective.
