Homer Township residents who say they fear an erosion of their rural lifestyle have asked New Lenox trustees to reconsider their recent annexation of some Homer Township land on the northwest side of the village.

Jim Davis, spokesman for the Preserve Homer Commission, said, “Urban sprawl is not compatible” with Homer Township’s country atmosphere.

He said members of the group are skeptical that the annexed area, which retained agricultural and estate zoning, will retain its character as development spreads.
