Baby B.E.G.I.N., a drop-in center for mothers and babies, is hosting an open house Friday in the Frankfort Community Center.

Furnished with brightly colored banners and mats and an array of toys, the center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. five days a week.

Sponsored by Lincoln-Way Resource Center and Project B.E.G.I.N., an educational cooperative for at-risk preschoolers, the new venture is an extension of Project B.E.G.I.N.’s home visit program for children up to the age of 3.

The home visits help provide mothers with parenting tips and information about child development.

An extra support system is helpful for new mothers, according to Project B.E.G.I.N. Director Sandy Robertson. “The family has changed so much. We all used to have mothers and grandmothers (nearby).”

The open house will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at 140 Oak St.
