Plans for expanding Mokena’s waste water-treatment plant are expected to be complete next month, trustees learned at a work session this week.
The plant at 11400 W. 191st St. is being upgraded to handle the demands of a growing population.
Ross Sweeny, an engineer from Rust Environment and Infrastructure, said the plans include adding two aeration tanks, two clarifiers and a sludge processing building.
Garage expansion and an administration building also are on the agenda.
New sludge processing methods will improve the plant’s efficiency, Sweeny said.
Advertising for bids will begin soon, probably in April, he said.
