The special census of Mokena’s growing population ends Friday, but overlooked residents will have another chance to be counted, Village Clerk Jane McGinn said this week.
The head count will provide a more accurate picture of the village population and make the town eligible for more revenue, such as state motor fuel-tax and sales-tax funds that are distributed on the basis of population.
Residents who are not counted by Friday can obtain a form that can be clipped from local newspapers or picked up at the Mokena Village Hall, 11004 Carpenter St.
In other village business, trustees approved rezoning for land at Ridgemore Road and Primrose Lane as the site for a new well. Drilling will begin shortly.
