A compromise with a landowner may help the village get the acreage it needs to expand a waste water-treatment plant, village officials said recently.
To keep pace with the needs of a growing population over the next five years, more than 10 acres will be needed to expand Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 on the south end of the town, said Village Administrator Russ Loebe.
Besides room for expansion, space is needed for “neighborhood-friendly” features, such as landscaping, he said.
Land for the proposed expansion could take about one-third of the lots planned since 1995 for a subdivision on the property owned by Jim Warning south of Laraway Road and east and west of Gougar Road, he said.
In order to help Warning develop his property, the village could agree to forgo a section of development.
