State and local officials met last week at Governors State University to try to dissuade Jones Intercable from eliminating a 24-hour educational channel operated by the school for the past 15 years.
But the most that Colorado-based Jones Intercable company is promising is to “evaluate all that we’ve learned,” according to Jones public affairs manager Dan Copasso.
The company previously said it intends to replace Governors State’s programming on that date with the Learning Channel, which currently is carried on Channel 56.
Eliminating Governors State’s programming from Channel 29 would affect about 900 students enrolled in telecourses offered by the school.
Among those in attendance at last week’s meeting were state Rep. Phil Novak (D-Kankakee), delegates from East Hazel Crest, Richton Park and University Park.
