Wheaton-Warrenville South 57, Naperville Central 52: Eric Channing scored 17 of his 27 points in the first quarter and drained five three-pointers to lead the Tigers (11-6, 4-3) in the DuPage Valley. Jon Beutjer added 16. Ben Berning had 15 points for Naperville Central (12-5, 4-3).
Larkin 65, Waubonsie Valley 58 (OT): Deryn Carter (17 points) scored seven points in overtime when Larkin outscored Waubonsie 11-4 to end the Warriors’ winning streak at eight games. Denny Penrod added 17 points for Larkin (10-8, 3-5). R.J. Luke (15 points) hit a jumper from the top of the key with 1 1/2 minutes left to give Waubonsie (14-3, 6-2) a second chance to win the Upstate Eight matchup in overtime. Waubonsie’s Dan Zatloukal led all scorers with 20.
St. Viator 66, Joliet Catholic 49: Mike Howland scored a career-high 30 points to guide St. Viator (11-6, 5-2) in the East Suburban Catholic. The Lions led 29-18 at the half. Nick Bertino scored 12 for Joliet Catholic (2-13, 1-6).
“On offense, Howland set the tone for us in many ways,” St. Viator coach Joe Majkowski said. “His presence on the court draws attention and opens it up for other players. He has been our ticket to success most of the year.”
Burlington Central 76, Harvard 48: Burlington Central (16-1, 4-0) dominated the Big Northern Red game behind Caleb Lamz’s 19 points and Bill Hargrave’s 17.
Fenton 46, Plainfield 42: Chris Shafer’s 14 points helped Fenton (7-13, 1-6) pull out the Suburban Prairie Red victory. Plainfield fell to 6-10, 1-5.
Lemont 45, Westmont 40: Sarunas Skadas had 19 points to lead the Injuns (9-7, 5-1) in the Suburban Prairie Blue. Westmont fell to 5-12, 1-5.
Lisle 56, Wilmington 43: Lisle (8-6, 5-3) won in the Interstate Eight with Mike Oresar’s 20 points. Matt Van Duyne had 14 for Wilmington (6-8, 4-4).
St. Patrick 60, Carmel 45: St. Patrick (10-6, 5-2) cruised in the East Suburban Catholic behind Andy Bumgardner (21 points) and Jack Maniscalco (13). Ricky Bryant scored 15 for Carmel (6-13, 2-6).
Addison Trail 50, Willowbrook 47: Addison Trail (6-9, 3-2) prevailed in the West Suburban Gold behind Shawn Weeks’ 14 points. Willowbrook is 3-13, 0-5.
Reavis 60, Romeoville 30: Reavis (10-7, 2-3) drubbed Romeoville (10-7, 2-3) in the SICA North as Brian Riddle and Carl Gamauf scored 16 apiece.
Aurora Central Catholic 86, Marian Central 74: Brad Hulke’s 42 points for the Chargers (8-9, 6-3) fell short of the school’s record 44, but his nine three-pointers set a new school mark. “It was an outstanding shooting game,” said Aurora Central coach Don Holler. “He’s had some big games, but this is the best he’s had. The numbers speak for themselves.”
