Something of a musical time traveler, jazz clarinetist Don Byron has dealt with many styles, eras and themes, from early Duke Ellington to calypso to the comic Catskills sounds of Mickey Katz. Now Byron has turned his hand to composing a score for the 1920s silent film classic “Scar of Shame,” which forthrightly portrayed the lives of urban African-Americans. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave. Call 312-397-4010.
