When the defending Super Bowl champ Green Bay Packers take on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII Sunday in San Diego, two of the game’s top quarterbacks will be mixing it up.
The Packers are led by league co-MVP Brett Favre (left) and the Broncos by cagey veteran John Elway (right). That’s a primo matchup, but the pressure is sure to be on the Broncos. Not only must they face the worshiped, red-hot Packers, but they also must overcome some pretty tough history. Elway has led the Broncos in three of their four Super Bowl losses. Now the team is trying not to become the first team to lose five Super Bowl games. Plus, they’ll be trying to snap the National Football Conference’s winning streak of 13 Super Bowl games. (The last American Football Conference winner was the 1983 Oakland Raiders, so maybe the Packers are due for an upset.)
The Packers come into the game with all their big guns. Not only is passer Favre at the top of his game, but also running back Dorsey Levens and receiver Antonio Freeman will challenge the Broncos’ defense.
Both teams feature hard-hitting defense and power running games. So look for a rough, in-your-face kind of game.
