Opera for dinner: Now that January is here and the 1998 calendars are on the desk or wall, it might be wise for lovers of opera, musicals and holiday songs to pen in a reminder to call Del Rio Restaurant in Highwood the day after Thanksgiving.
According to the restaurant’s bartender, Mike Fortunatto, reservations for this past year’s dinner-music seatings were filled within two days, even though performances ran twice a night the six days preceding Christmas Eve. “(Attending) has really become a tradition. And people begin calling at 6 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving to make reservations,” Fortunatto said.
