Six months ago, ABC executives spent a lot of time knocking down speculation by journalists that the network’s entertainment president, Jamie Tarses, soon would be fired. She wasn’t.

Thursday, Tarses was in front of journalists with entertainment chairman Stu Bloomberg and eager to promote such midseason sitcoms as “These Are the Days,” from the writer-producers of “Roseanne”; “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza,” from the co-creator of “Mad About You”; and the sports-oriented drama, “Push.”

They also had clips from “Maximum Bob,” a summer drama–based on an Elmore Leonard novel and starring Beau Bridges–from Barry “Men in Black” Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld is also crafting the return of “Fantasy Island” for ABC.
