Lashawn Taylor appropriately wears No. 23 for Roosevelt, and her Michael Jordan impression Thursday was just enough to lift the Rough Riders past Taft 89-85 in four overtimes.

Taylor scored 44 points on 54 percent shooting (15 for 28) and added 22 rebounds. She scored all of Roosevelt’s points in the final overtime as the Rough Riders outscored Taft 10-6 for the victory and gained sole possession of first place in the Public Red North.

Her three-pointer with 5 seconds left in regulation tied the game 60-60 and sent it into the first extra session.

“Lashawn is the player we go to when we have nothing else,” Roosevelt coach Jerry Taylor said.

Taylor’s three-pointer in regulation capped a 9-0 Roosevelt run in the final 58 seconds. Roosevelt (8-5, 4-0) caught a break when Taft’s Latasha White fouled out with 20 points and 27 rebounds with 1 second left in the first overtime.

Chasity Rutledge, who finished with 29 points, helped Taft (10-5, 3-1) hold on in the remaining overtimes. Lenita Hinkle scored 24 points and Kristy Schneider had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Roosevelt.

Marshall 80, Young 36: The second-ranked Commandos (15-0, 5-0) rolled in the Public Red West behind Kimya Murray (26 points), Sabrina Minter (12) and Cappie Pondexter (12 points, nine rebounds). Shanay Williams had 21 points for Young.

Lake Zurich 59, Grayslake 27: Alicia Ratay had 22 points, including 15 in the first half, as No. 3 Lake Zurich (16-2, 8-0) stayed unbeaten in the Fox Valley. Jennie Wessel’s 12 points led Grayslake (8-4, 4-4).

Sandburg 63, Joliet 50: Fourth-ranked Sandburg (15-1, 4-0) held Joliet (12-8, 2-2) scoreless for 4:05 in the fourth and sank 14 of 19 free throws in the last 2:24 to pull away in the SICA West battle. Tracy Hoffmann (20 points) and Sarah Kustok (16) sparked Sandburg. Lori Shelby scored 23 for Joliet.

Fenwick 59, Joliet Catholic 27: Katie O’Grady scored 21 points for No. 7 Fenwick (15-2, 4-0), which jumped to a 20-3 first-quarter lead in the East Suburban Catholic. Megan Serena had 13 points in defeat for the Hilltoppers (5-10, 2-2).

Wheaton-Warrenville South 75, Glenbard East 31: Charliss Ridley’s 24 points helped the 12th-ranked Tigers (15-2, 3-1) roll in the DuPage Valley.

Warren 45, Schaumburg 38: Trailing by nine at the half, No. 14 Warren (16-2) outscored Schaumburg 20-2 in the third quarter to take control. Nicole Thompson had 17 points and eight rebounds for Warren.

Waubonsie Valley 70, East Aurora 58: Ashley Luke hit eight three-pointers and scored 34 points as No. 20 Waubonsie Valley (13-4, 6-0) held on in the Upstate Eight. Teresa Reynolds (37 points) and Nakisha Shaw (17 points) combined for all but four of East Aurora’s points.

Foreman 37, Lake View 32: Diamond Moreno had 23 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, as Foreman (3-5, 2-3) held off Lake View in the Public Blue North.

Hillcrest 49, Thornton Fractional North 46: Hillcrest (13-2, 4-0) held on for the SICA Central victory. Shavonna Hunter scored 29 points, including 15 in the first quarter, for Hillcrest. Joanna Mallek scored 15 for T.F. North (4-12, 2-3).

Hinsdale Central 38, St. Ignatius 36: Ashley Homeyer’s 16 points and Laura Barnard’s 15 helped Hinsdale Central (12-4) hold off St. Ignatius (10-6), which committed seven turnovers in the fourth quarter. Michelle Shaughnessy led all scorers with 18 points for St. Ignatius, but was limited to one in the fourth.

Josephinum 70, Mt. Assisi 61: Tawana Henderson and Genise Grant scored 20 points apiece as Josephinum (1-9, 1-3 GCAC White) claimed its first victory.

Luther South 46, Holy Trinity 27: Janet Henry’s 20 points propelled the Braves (12-5). Lizette Santa had 15 points for the Tigers (9-7).

Maria 59, Seton 56: Mary Cain had 21 points and four assists as the Mystics (15-5) prevailed. Marla Amazzaloso led Seton (10-5) with 21 points.

Phillips 54, Curie 50: Patricia Wansley totaled 39 points and 21 rebounds to record her sixth consecutive double double for Phillips (11-4, 5-0 Public Red Central). Wansley hit 6 of 7 free throws in the fourth quarter and 19 of 24 for the game.

Proviso East 61, Morton 59 (OT): Erica Jones (21 points, nine rebounds) scored all six of Proviso East’s points in overtime, including a basket with 6 seconds left, to lift the Pirates (11-8, 2-4) in the West Suburban Gold.
