Romeoville trustees voted Wednesday night to approve an annexation agreement involving the site of a planned mixed commercial and residential development.

The annexation is expected to take place by July 1 and bring almost 77 acres into the village.

The Fairfield Meadows project at the northeast corner of 135th Street and Weber Road will include apartments, town homes and 21 acres of commercial property.

A complex of up to 350 apartments on 29.1 acres will be the first section to develop.

The apartment development will generate $1.6 million in impact fees, according to Village Manager Jim Smithberg.

A bank is expected to build on the commercial land, and the owner is negotiating with a grocery chain as well, Smithberg said.
