Shelley Long will return to TV at the end of March in the new WB sitcom, “Kelly Kelly.” In it, she plays a TV reporter whose first name is Kelly. She marries a fireman–and father of four children–whose last name is Kelly.
The series, which also stars Robert Hays, has been in gestation at the network for nearly two years. It only this week changed production companies from Columbia TriStar to Warner Brothers Television. Long and WB execs used the occasion of the opening day of the Television Critics Association winter tour to announce plans for the long-delayed launch.
The Second City grad, mother of a 12-year-old daughter, added, “I love that there’s another generation of children who, when they see me, asks, ‘Is that Mrs. Brady?’ I love playing moms.”
