Garbage services will improve during the next 15 months, according to Tom Agema, general manager of NuWay/Homewood Disposal, which has begun servicing the community.

NuWay purchased Sexton Disposal in November, picking up Sexton’s previous obligation to service Oak Forest until March. Aldermen are hoping that repeated complaints about poor garbage service will diminish with the new hauler. The city awarded NuWay a one-year contract through February 1999. Agema said the current rates will not be increased during the life of the contract.
He said his company now services 18 communities and that Oak Forest’s recyclables have been coming to the company’s recycling process center in East Hazel Crest for the past 18 months. He said that during the next year he will act on complaints about garbage pickup, blowing debris and leaf pickup.
