For Lincoln-Way High School band students, the holiday break entails a bit of traveling.
The day after Christmas, the school’s Marching Knights, Wind Symphony and Jazz Band left for San Diego to showcase their talents. Last Saturday, the Wind Symphony and Jazz Band performed at a festival in the Town and Country Hotel while the Marching Knights competed in a field show at Scripps Ranch High School.
The Marching Knights stepped out again Monday for the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade.

The trip won’t be all work and no play. The students also are scheduled to go to Disneyland in Anaheim, where the Marching Knights are to appear in a parade New Year’s Eve, as well as trips to the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego-based carrier USS Kitty Hawk.
The more than 240 band members, their instructors and chaperons are scheduled to return home Thursday.
