The Zoning Board of Appeals recently voted against a bank’s request for a 92-square-foot sign.

The board vote to not recommend that the First East Side Savings Bank’s request for the sign on the southwest side of the building at 19031 S. Old LaGrange Rd. be approved.

The board, however, did recommend an 85-square-foot sign.

Bank representative Brian Kiley said the bank needs a big sign “to gain full exposure from the corner of 191st and LaGrange Road.”

“That’s where the traffic is coming from,” he said.

“I think (the proposed size) is a little too large,” board Chairman Robert Horras said.

In other business, the board voted against requests by a residential developer and an individual homeowner seeking variances from the village’s required 35-foot setbacks.
