The glow of Christmas might barely be fading when the Libertyville Community High School District 128 School Board is called back into session.

Board members, pressed for time to start the construction schedule for a new high school, may meet at 9 a.m. Monday to formally approve a construction manager for the project.

Supt. Donald L. Gossett said last week that he hopes to convene the board in a special session early this week to approve a contract with Bovis Construction Co. of Chicago.

“We’re already a month behind schedule,” Gossett said. “We only have 18 months to bring this project in. We’re at a point where every day, every hour is making a difference.”

The board was to approve the contract with Bovis at its meeting last Monday. But the vote was delayed when several board members raised concerns about construction deadline guarantees, liability insurance and other details in the agreement.

Gossett met with Bovis officials, school architect Wayne Machnich and a District 128 attorney on Tuesday afternoon to work out the final wording of the agreement.
