This year, the grasp of our gaze could be as far afield as the face of Mars or the tail of the comet Hale-Bopp, as close to home as the lips of Chicagos mayor pursed in anger and frustration or the tear-filled eyes of the states once-highest jurist. Whatever happened, wherever in the world or beyond it, photographers and the latest technology of image delivery made sure we could see it all right away.
