With 1997 coming to an end, the Lake County Children’s Advocacy center has honored several area professionals for their dedication to protecting children throughout the year.
At its annual holiday open house this month, the group gave awards to two law enforcement officials, a lawyer and a hospital administrator.
Lake County Assistant State’s Atty. Christopher Stride, who has prosecuted many child sexual assault and abuse cases, received the Fred L. Foreman Criminal Justice Award.
Two police officials were also honored for their investigative work that led to the arrests of child sex offenders.
Those Law Enforcement Awards were presented to Deputy Chief Richard Eckenstahler of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and Zion Police Chief Mark Ross-Corbett.
A Community Support Award also was presented to Jennifer Yonan, director of development at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, which chose the Children’s Advocacy center as their special cause for the year.
