Just when Maine South put Saturday’s game on cruise control, Hersey decided to make a game of it. But in the end, the Hawks’ Matt Angarone restored order.

Angarone scored four of his game-high 24 points during a game-ending 6-0 run to give Maine South (6-3) a 64-54 victory in Park Ridge.

Angarone’s heroics came after Hersey (4-5) peeled off 11 straight points to pull to within 58-54 with just under 2 minutes remaining.

“I give them a lot of credit, because they came really hard at us in the fourth quarter, even though they were down,” said Maine South coach Dave Scott.

Mike Kulbeda paced the Huskies with 16.

Burlington Central 57, St. Edward 51: Bill Hargrave and David Zirzierk each scored 16 points to lead Burlington Central (9-0). Eric Castro led St. Edward with 21.

Conant 63, Larkin 54 (OT): Dave Stanczak scored five of his game-high 23 points in overtime to lead Conant to the victory. Russ Michna added 17 points, including six in the extra session.

Marengo 59, Sycamore 51: Tim Moehling scored 20 points and Matt Dunker added 15 to lead Marengo (8-1).
