Three suspects were charged in two separate carjackings along Sheridan Road over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
In one incident, at 6 a.m. Sunday at 16th Street and Sheridan Road in North Chicago, a man in a 1995 white Toyota Fore-Runner was stopped at a red light when a couple approached. Police said a man with a knife jumped in the back seat and swung it at the driver, who fled. He was not injured, police said.
About an hour later, police spotted the stolen vehicle in an alley and arrested two suspects, who were in an apartment in the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue. Charged with aggressive vehicular hijacking were Alan Victorian, 27, and Gales Usher, 24.
In a separate carjacking Sunday night along Sheridan Road in Waukegan, police charged Maurice Bankhead, 33, of 509 Lake St., Waukegan, with vehicular hijacking. Prosecutors said Bankhead was in a stolen car when he allegedly bumped a woman’s car and got out to check the damages. Officials said he grabbed the woman, threw her out of the car, and took off in her 1997 Honda.
