Decades old laws that no longer apply to Oak Forest’s operations will be dropped when the city begins a one-year recodification project with Book Publishing Co. of Seattle.

The program, which is to begin soon, will streamline Oak Forest’s 600-plus page code book and make it more contemporary by deleting outdated rules, and updating language, City Administrator Peter Strutynski said.

Book Publishing received an $18,500 contract from the city. .

The city has been spending $3,000 to $4,000 annually to have its yearly ordinances analyzed, classified and categorized.
