Larkin 62, Schaumburg 61: Deryn Carter’s heroics gave Larkin (4-1) the victory over Schaumburg (4-1). Carter (29 points) scored nine points in the game’s final 21 seconds, hitting three free throws with 21 seconds left, a three-pointer with with 12 seconds left and the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer. The last time Larkin defeated Schaumburg was in 1995.
“I missed six free throws in the first half, and that bothered me,” Carter said. “I knew after I made those three at the end of the game that we had a chance. When I let go of the last shot, I was sure it was in.”
Naperville Central 75, Waubonsie Valley 60: Ben Berning scored 25 and Tim Szatko 21 for Naperville (4-2). R.J. Luke had 15 for Waubonsie (5-1).
Wheaton North 52, Elk Grove 51: Mike Cassis’ three-pointer at the buzzer gave Wheaton North (4-1) the victory. Rob Snyder scored 16 to lead the victors. Aaron Barthel had 19 for Elk Grove (4-1).
