Eric Channing is the reigning three-point king in Illinois, having won the state’s three-point shooting contest last spring. But Friday, he showed his fundamental skills are sound too.
Channing didn’t hit any three-pointers but finished with 15 points and scored Wheaton-Warrenville South’s final four to give the Tigers (3-1, 1-0) a 60-57 victory over host Naperville North (3-1, 0-1), the defending DuPage Valley Conference champion.
The senior’s driving layup with 40 seconds left gave Wheaton-Warrenville South a 58-57 lead.

With 14 seconds to go, he added two free throws.
