Village trustees have completed the final step in realigning property along a 40-acre industrial park and a four-block site targeted for residential construction.

“We’ve done a couple of other transactions where we’ve swapped lot for lot so the lots will be right in line with each other,” Village President Lou Sherman said Tuesday. “This should clear the whole thing up, and they (developers) can begin building houses in the spring.”

Sherman’s remarks followed the Village Board’s vote Monday to condemn and acquire additional parcels in the area northwest of Wentworth Avenue and Steger Road. The board rezoned the property to residential from industrial. The 150-lot subdivision is owned by developer Hugh Buchanan.

The Buchanan property will be the second residential development next to the industrial park, which houses “very light” industry, Sherman said.
