STUDENT LEADERS SAY ID BADGES CAUSING RIFT

Two Maine South High School student council members Monday night read to the school board a resolution adopted by the council, opposing a controversial identification policy, saying it has heightened confrontations between students and staff members, rather than lessening them.

Under the policy, all staff members and students at District 207’s three high schools must wear ID badges while on school grounds.

Board members said they would continue monitoring the policy but have not committed to changing it.
