Remind me never to have septuplets.
I recently sat up for hours playing with my two new Digimon virtual pets. Bandai sent me the Japanese version so I could get a jump start and tell you about the toys just as they’re hitting stores here. (The American version will look similar but have different packaging. Look for them for about $15.) I was trying to raise two happy, healthy Digimons so they could grow up big and strong and… fight. That’s the concept, really: You nurture them so you can hook them up to each other and make them battle. That made me squeamish, but I was determined to at least get them into healthy toddlerhood. I tried feeding them, giving them vitamins, training them to fight and flushing away their poop, and I still couldn’t make them happy. Finally, one would snooze… and the other would start beeping. No way are these weaklings ready to fight! You virtual-pet fanatics will have more luck with your Digimons, I’m sure. And you might not mind sending them off to battle. Can I help it if I raise my Digimons to be lovers, not fighters?
