Garrison Keillor brings his long-running, popular public radio show, A Prairie Home Companion, to Chicago for a live broadcast from Medinah Temple on Saturday, and the master story teller is turning to some great local talent for music. Chicago’s John Williams, one of the best button accordionists in Irish music, will join champion fiddler Martin Hayes and Chicago-born guitarist Dennis Cahill to add Celtic flavor to the show. Studs Terkel is also in the lineup, as is gospel great Mavis Staples. The show, carried nationwide on some 425 public radio stations, will air live from 5 to 7 p.m. on WBEZ, 91.5 FM.50 to $39.50.
