We love finding ghoulish toys, any time of year. So we were thrilled recently when our new art director Tonya gave us a hand -literally.
Tonya loves gross and creepy things (that’s why she works with us!). And she was roaming through Toys R Us when this way-cool drawing tool practically reached out and grabbed her. The Disgusting Designs Monster Marker Hand by Yes! was $10, which was a deal, so she brought some back to us!
This green plastic hand is an absolute howl. Pull off the black fingernails and you get colored markers; pull off the fingers and you’ll find cute, creepy stamps (a skull, bug, brain, eyeball and splatter) at the bottom. In the middle of this wrinkly ol’ paw is a teensy compartment with an ink pad. Gruesome plastic stencils top off the fun.
The hand does have one drawback: It’s not as dramatically creepy as the hand on the package. We don’t know why the toy packagers had to go so over the top, making the fingers look more gashed and bloody and the stamps way bigger than they really are. Because of that, the real toy, which is still exceptionally cool, is a bit disappointing when you first see it. C’mon, let’s go for truth in advertising! Besides that, this toy will thrill you; if you want to get your hands on one, try Toys R Us.
